You Won’t Believe How Criminals Broke Into This RHONJ’s Home
Do you join me in the guilty pleasure of binging the Real Housewives of New Jersey? I love these shows so much, that I actually think Andy Cohen should get his own national holiday. Of course, those shows are vapid, opulent, and sometimes silly but what recently happened to one housewife is no laughing matter.
When RHONJ cast member Jennifer Aydin and her husband, Bill Aydin, were not home, intruders broke into their home and robbed them. They came onto her property, opened her garage door, and proceeded to steal some shoes of all things, and the family’s cherry-red Ferrari.
Of course, getting robbed is horrible but the really scary part of this is that some of the couple’s children were home at the time of the theft.
The fact that intruders were able to just walk right into their home gives me the chills. It could have been so much worse! Somehow an alarm did not go off but at least there is security footage of the criminals walking into the garage, stealing the car and then peeling out of the driveway. Coincidentally, Jennifer and Bill’s son was coming home from having ice cream and he saw the stolen car whizzing past him.
The biggest takeaway here is the way the criminals were able to easily access the home in the first place. Apparently, there was another car in the driveway that was unlocked. That unlocked car had a garage opener in it. They used that to open the garage and not only steal the Ferrari, but also have access inside their home. It is so important to point out that if your car is kept in the driveway or even temporarily parked there, take your garage door opener inside with you. Even locking your doors leaves you vulnerable because they just have to smash the window and now they can get inside your home. In fact, it is recommended that we keep our garage openers inside our purses or if they must be in your car, in the glove box.
Police did recover the stolen car which was found with some damage in Irvington, most likely getting ready for a chop shop. Cars can be recovered or replaced but this is a really good lesson for all of us about keeping ourselves secure from creeps like this! I’m so glad everyone in the Aydin household is safe and sound!
