It is on just about every product, in every store in the world, and it was invented by an Atlantic City native and a graduate of Atlantic City High School.

His name was Norman Joseph Woodland and he was the co-inventor of the BARCODE. The barcode is based on Morse code patterns and revolutionized the way products are sold worldwide.

He first started working on the project when he was a student at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

The barcode was later developed into the UPC or the Universal Product Code that we see on packaging and products every day.
