According to NJ.com, a Mullica Township woman lost her life after turning into the wrong lane on Egg Harbor Road in Hammonton. 35-year-old Dana Kaufman was hit by a truck in the early evening hours on Tuesday (Oct 14th) after turning onto the wrong side of the road.

Hearing this story made me think about how lucky the majority of drivers are. Think about the scenario and be honest with yourself for a second. How many of us can honestly say we've never done this before? Maybe not on that exact road, but how many times have you been traveling on unfamiliar roads and have accidentally turned down the opposite direction of a one-way street? In token of candor, I have to admit that I've turned the wrong way down a one-way street more times than I'd like to discuss.

Since the cause of the crash is still under investigation, nothing else can be commented on regarding the reason behind the wrong term. What is absolutely true is that if Kaufman's wrong turn was simply an accidental oversight, it's devastating that she lost her life as a result of an innocent mistake that we've all made at one point or another. Of course, if there were other factors at play in this situation, the commentary would read differently. However, nothing has been revealed yet that would suggest otherwise, so it remains an unfortunate tragedy that took the life of a woman much too soon.
