Trump Taj Mahal's newest hotel tower, the Chairman's tower, has been closed.

As part of the tentative plan to close the entire property on December 12, the Chairman's tower was indeed closed yesterday, but negotiations are still ongoing to keep the doors of the casino open.

According to The Press of Atlantic City, 'About 2,700 workers are waiting to find out if Local 54 of UNITE-HERE will accept a proposal by Carl Icahn to keep the property from becoming the fifth casino-hotel to close this year in Atlantic City'.

Icahn has given one last offer to keep the doors open.  Bob McDevitt, the President of Local 54, has declined to comment.  All of this hinges on the union withdrawing its appeal of a court-ordered cost-cutting plan, which would take away health benefits and pension for the casino's employees.
