You might want to start on a plan to take an alternate route...again. Just saying.

The Townsends Inlet Bridge, at a young 80 years old, is set to close down again for about eight months, not reopening until Memorial Day 2019.

Unfortunately this sin't the first time this has happened. The Cape May County Bridge has been closed down for several repairs over the last few years. This time is no different. The area of concern this go around is the worn-out steel spans on the Avalon side. Workers will be replacing seven of those steel spans. Four of them are made of concrete.

The bridge connects Sea Isle City and Avalon, two popular Jersey Shore towns, especially in the summer.

On Friday morning via phone Karen Coughlin, the Cape May County Bridge Commission said the bridge is scheduled to re-open just in time for Memorial Day next spring.

The commission approved of the $8.6 million project on Thursday, with work expected to start September 18th.
