At least one Somers Point business is taking their "share" of the new 5 cent plastic bag fee and donating it directly to charity.

According to a sign at Santori's Porduce and Deli Outlet, shared on Facebook by the Marina Mammal Stranding Center, the store will be donating the fee.

City leaders in Somers Point voted in the 5 cent bag charge, effective this month to "help the environment."

Instead of earmarking the fee to go somewhere, city officials instead told stores to keep the fee.

Santori's is the first store we've heard that is donating the fee. If you know of more, please let us know!
