Governor Murphy has backtracked on lifting the smoking ban in Atlantic City casinos. The restriction is now extended for the unforeseeable future.

According to a report from NJ.com, the announcement came Friday during the Governor's press conference. The decision to lift the smoking ban, which went into effect at 6am Friday morning, was met with criticism and controversy.

Even though smoking would be limited to just 25% of the casino floor, health officials according to the report, deemed secondhand smoke to be a health risk and a possible way of spreading COVID-19. Governor Murphy agreed with the assessment from health officials.
