Most of us are less than thrilled with freezing temperatures and shorter days, but some people suffer from a syndrome known as seasonal affective disorder or SAD.

Also known as seasonal depression, people can experience lack of energy, difficulty concentrating, nausea, overeating, and withdrawal from family and friends.

Treatments for seasonal affective disorder include exposure to more light, or light therapy, behavior therapy and anti-depressant medications.

Some studies also show that melatonin supplements may be helpful in treating seasonal affective disorder.  If you are experiencing symptoms of SAD, talk with your doctor about ways you can manage it and remember, spring is only few months away.
