If seals could speak this one would probably tell you it's glad to be alive after escaping the jaws of a shark along the Jersey Shore.

A seal that had been bitten by a shark and stranded was discovered on Surf City Beach Christmas Day.

The male seal was found with a vicious gash just above his tail fins but will reportedly recover.

He was rescued by the angels at Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine and is being treated at the rehab hospital there. The cute little guy simply goes by MMSC #23-165, but I think he looks like an 'Earl'. Lol.

The team at MMSC really IS angelic for all the work they put in to rescuing seals, turtles, dolphins, and other sea creatures like this one, and for nursing so many of them back to health. They're a non-profit organization, just FYI.

If you encounter a stranded, sick, or injured seal on the beach this winter, Marine Mammal Stranding Center urges you not to approach it, stay at a minimum distance of 150 feet, and to call them right away at 609-266-0538.

You can also donate to the care of this injured seal and others MMSC.

MMSC is live streaming the seal's recovery! Watch below!
