Northfield, NJ, Man Sentenced on Gun Charges
A man from Northfield will be spending the next several years behind bars after pleading guilty to gun-related charges following a pair of incidents in Atlantic City in 2020.
On Wednesday, 64-year-old David Spinks was sentenced to five years in state prison where he must serve his entire sentence without parole.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on July 13th, 2020, in Atlantic City, Spinks assaulted a victim on Michigan Avenue with a sawed-off shotgun by hitting him over the head with it.
On August 18th of that year, also in Atlantic City, Spinks was apprehended for that assault. While being arrested by Atlantic City police, he was found to be in possession of a handgun.
This past November, Spinks pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree certain person not to possess firearms for a five-year sentence without parole and one count of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose for a five-year sentence where he
must serve 3 ½ years before being eligible for parole.
Both sentences will run concurrently as part of the plea agreement.
