
Monmouth and Ocean’s Youngest Towns
If you had to take a guess at the youngest town in Monmouth county, Red Bank has got to come to mind. It's not. How about the youngest town in Ocean County. The results may surprise you.
New Jersey's median age is about 39. But an analysis of Census data shows that the state's average age varies greatly not only statewide, but county to county as well.
According to the US Census, the youngest town in Monmouth County is Freehold Borough. The average age is 31.9 with the median age of men being 30.1 and women 37.1. Other towns that were below the average were Asbury Park, Long Branch, Lake Como and Red Bank.
Spring Lake and Sea Girt were among the oldest towns in Monmouth.
When looking at Ocean County, Lakewood was not only one of the youngest in the county, but in the state overall. Lakewood Township's average age is 23.2 with the median age of men being 22.6 and women 23.6. Other OC towns below the average were Lakehurst and South Toms River.
