It has been a rough couple of years in New Jersey. Prices of everything are out of control and seem to be getting higher. Many New Jersey residents are running up some high credit card debt.

Did you ever feel like New Jersey is getting hit harder than most states? Prices are higher to start with here, and they just keep going up. So our credit card debt must be higher than most other states, right? It makes sense that it would be.

We did a little research to find out the answer to that question, and we turned to the folks at WalletHub to get to the bottom of it.

They recently ranked each state in the nation in regards to their credit card debt, so it was easy to get our answer.

We're pretty sure that what they found is going to really surprise you here in the Garden State. And it turns out it's a pleasant surprise.

New Jersey is not in the top 5, the top ten, or even the top 15. As a matter of fact, the Garden State doesn't even land in the top half of states in the nation for credit card debt.

You have to go all the way down to the #30 spot in the study to find New Jersey. We might be among the most expensive states in the nation to live in, but, we're not charging things at an alarming rate.

As a matter of fact, the Garden State's median credit card debt according to this study is a surprisingly low $2464.

For the record, Alaska has the highest credit card debt numbers in the nation. Their median credit card debt is $3206.
