This Is How High New Jersey Ranks For Christmas Spending
Now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are behind us, we start to really focus on just how much money we are going to drop this holiday season. The short answer is a lot.
We all have a big gift list. We love the people on it and we want to make them happy this Christmas, but there is no doubt the price tag for all of it is high this year.
And we all know that things tend to be more expensive in New Jersey than in almost any other place on the planet, so we started wondering just how high New Jersey’s Christmas price tag really is.
Obviously, we can’t know this year’s totals yet, but the information about last year is out there, and we found it on a website called Chamber of Commerce.
It will not surprise you in the least that New Jersey ranks as one of the states that spend the most on Christmas, and our tab seems to be getting higher each year.
Let’s start by saying that after the 2021 Christmas season, the Garden State ranks #5 in the whole nation.
In New Jersey last year, our holiday spending budget averaged somewhere north of $2000. It was $2102 to be exact.
That number moved us up from #7 in 2019, so the budgets are trending higher. Great, just what we need. A higher bill.
There is no real way to know yet what will happen this year, but with money being tight, we may be shrinking our budgets this year, but it’s hard to think we won’t be in the top 5 again. We might have a permanent residence there.
