It's a debate every year. The New Jersey bear hunt.

Some say the bear hunt is important to control bear population and cut down on the incidents of bear - human conflicts. Others think it is inhumane and should be re-considered.

Hunters killed 272 bears during last year’s state mandated hunt, according to the Department of Environmental Protection. State officials estimate there are 3,500 bears living in New Jersey north of Interstate 80, which is known for it's large population of bear.
