The community of Mullica Township is in mourning today after a weekend car crash took the life of a local 10-year old boy.

The boy, and the driver thought to be a relative, were reportedly just minutes from their Egg Harbor City home when the accident happened, according to NBC40.net.

Just after 9 p.m. Saturday, a call to 911 reported a one-car crash on Weekstown Road between 5th Ave. and Pleasant Mills Rd. in Mullica Township. The car allegedly left the roadway and struck a tree.

Jaiden Ohnemuller–Muskett, 10 and a fourth grader at Mullica Township School District was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, identified as Phillip Muskett, sustained significant chest and leg injuries and was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
