More Employees Set to Be Laid Off at Two Atlantic City Casinos
Approximately 300 Atlantic City casino workers will be looking for new jobs soon.....
Revel Casino and Trump Taj Mahal will be laying off employees.
Most of them are seasonal workers, and with summer coming to a close, their services are no longer needed. With a tourist driven city like Atlantic City, this is nothing new.
What's hard about this news is that the seasonal employees usually last till the end of September. It seems that the Labor Day weekend was a slow one for AC.
Bob McDevitt, President of the Local 54 Union, says that 'Revel is using the seasonal layoffs to cut workers who have been employed with Revel long before summer even started. Revel cut 83 jobs in April, just a month before emerging from bankruptcy protection with less debt and new owners.'
Trump Entertainment also announced about 200 layoffs at both Trump Plaza and Trump Taj Mahal. According to Trump Entertainment officials, about 80 of the cuts are temporary summer employees. (NBC 40)
