A jogger out for his morning run in Wildwood happened to be at the right place at the right time and is being credited with helping to save the life of a man who was struggling in the surf.

NJ.com reports Aaron McCoy and his sister were jogging Tuesday morning near Creese Avenue in Wildwood when they heard people yelling for help.

According to the report, McCoy grabbed a boogie board, jumped into the water, and paddled toward the man. When firefighters got to the scene, they saw the pair were at least 150 feet offshore and exhausted. Rescue crews sprang into action and saved the two.

WHYY reports the man who McCoy saved had just rescued his daughter before he got swept out into the water.

A statement from the the Wildwoood Fire Department said, "Mr. McCoy’s heroic and selfless actions prevent a tragedy from occurring."

No injuries were reported in the incident.
