Investigation Leads to Arrest of Graffiti Artist From Ventnor, NJ
An alleged graffiti artist who was wanted in two Atlantic County cities has been arrested.
40-year-old Steve Araujo of the first block of Oakland Avenue in Ventnor City was taken into custody last week and charged with criminal mischief.
The Atlantic City Police Department says back in August, their organization along with the Ventnor City Police Department were alerted to numerous locations that had been vandalized with graffiti, including art projects, electrical boxes, and businesses.
The graffiti continued through November as officers followed up on leads and continued their investigation.
On December 4th, Araujo was arrested.
According to police,
During a search of Araujo’s residence, officers located evidence that was used in the commission or preparation of vandalizing the property including a sketchbook with artwork, 73 spray paint cans, 30 paint markers, approximately 75 spray nozzles, and 150 Sharpie markers.
Araujo was released on a summons with a future court date.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
