Ritz Bits Cheese Sandwich Crackers

13 of these mini cracker sandwiches contain just 4 grams of sugar.  That's not terrible.

However, the lack of protein and fiber means these snacks won't satisfy your child's hunger.

Trail Mix

When you think of trail mix, you think of nuts, seeds, maybe those little pretzels, and dried pieces of fruit.

The problem with most store-bought trail mix products is that they also have a ton of sugar.  It's better to make your own healthy version.

Kellogg's Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts

It hurts me to admit it.  I mean, who doesn't like these fruity-flavored treats?  Pop it in the toaster, and what's not to like?

The problem is that Pop-Tarts are full of sugar.  Pop-Tarts have sugar, high fructose corn syrup, dextrose, soybean and palm oil, and corn syrup.  I wish I hadn't known this.

Granola Bars

Seems like these would be a good, healthy choice, right?

Most store-bought granola products are loaded with sugar and preservatives.

Fruit Juice

Most of us who have had kids, at one time or another, have given our kids a box of juice.  Seems like it would be a healthy choice.

However, before giving these to your kid, check the label.  Many of these products are, fruit-flavored, not actual juice.  Additionally, many are loaded with sugar and other sweeteners.

Goldfish

This is a favorite of parents all over.  It comes in an easy-pour box, kids love the taste, and they are cheap.

Ok, these aren't terrible, but they lack nutrients and are probably high in sodium.

Apple Sauce

I could never understand giving this treat to kids.  It's messy and it seems kids like to swear it all over themselves.

From a health perspective, store-bought apple sauce has a high sugar content.  One of the most popular brands has 5.5 grams of sugar per serving.

Hot Dogs

What you may not realize, is that processed meats like hotdogs, are suspected of causing certain cancers.
