According to Simple Thrifty Living, decorating with incandescent lights in New Jersey runs us $23.84 over a span of 34 days (Thanksgiving through New Year's Day). But those who opted for LED powered lights averaged just $8.62.

For their findings, Simple Thrifty Living used the U.S.'s government's average for residential electricity rates in each of the 50 states and multiplied the kWh hours by those rates, according to Patch.com. And it judges the use of about 68.5 feet of lights.
