The professionals at People magazine has chosen Gwyneth Paltrow as 2013's Most Beautiful Woman in the World.  The label bestowed upon the 40-year old actress fills the shoes of past honorees like Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.  Do you agree with People's choice?

People magazine managing editor Larry Hackett said Paltrow was chosen because she’s relatable as a wife and mother who balances personal life and her career. Adding said she’s family-oriented, grounded, close to her mother and looks great, making her a gorgeous example of what a beautiful woman is today.

I love Gwyneth.  She's made some of my favorite films like The Talented Mr. Ripley, Shakespeare in Love, A Perfect Murder, and Sliding Doors all but changed my life.  Her Grace Kelly-like looks and impeccable fashion style are unparallelled.  But sometimes I feel she can be anything BUT down to earth, seemingly too blue blood and self-righteous for my taste.  And I was disturbed by her recent comments that she allows herself one cigarette a week as a 'treat' in spite of the fact that her father died from cancer.

I do owe Paltrow a great debt, though, as it is because of her I discovered the person who changed my view of physical fitness, trainer Tracy Anderson.  Her method is astounding, and Gwyn is not only an A+ student of Tracy's, she's been instrumental in building the workout guru's empire, and has since become her business partner.

Others spotlighted in the issue include Adele, Halle Berry, Scandal star Kerry Washington, Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, and Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke.  Representing the men are Hugh Jackman, country star Tim McGraw, actor Channing Tatum, Justin Timberlake and new big-screen Superman Henry Cavill.

The Most Beautiful issue of People goes on sale this Friday.
