In New York, they say it is illegal for a baby’s first or middle name to be more than 30 characters long and the last name cannot be more than 40 characters long.  You are also not allowed to have a number or symbol as any of your names.  This may only be a problem if you were a Prince fan.

In New Jersey, we’re banned from naming our child an obscenity which is a good thing.  We also have a limit of 30 characters or less for the first, middle or last name.  You cannot name your baby “baby girl”, “baby boy”, “male”, “female” or a symbol, number or special character.  In other words we aren’t putting up with the BS.  Name your kids something nice will ya?
