Iconic Tram Cars Will Roll for 72nd Summer on The Wildwood Boardwalk
"Watch the tram cars, please". The famous Wildwood tram car is one of the most beloved Wildwood experiences ever.
The yellow tram cars have been a staple of the Wildwood Boardwalk since the summer of 1949. Workers have begun maintenance on the trams cars including recharging the batteries to make sure they're ready for action for another summer season on the iconic boardwalk according to NJ.com.
Patrick Rosenello, executive director of the Wildwood Special Improvement District tells NJ.com,
The trams are such a huge part of the Wildwoods,” “There is not another icon or image that says the Wildwoods more than the tram cars.”
Last year, covid restrictions delayed the tram cars running on the boardwalk until after Memorial Day weekend. This year, the tram cars will be ready to roll on May 7th, just in time for the big Mother's Day Weekend.
You can ride along two miles of the world-famous Wildwood Boardwalk from 16th Street North Wildwood to Cresse Avenue at the Wildwood/Wildwood Crest border for just $4 bucks. Rides start at 11 AM until midnight daily.
Here's a nice way to spend a summer on the Wildwood boardwalk and get paid for doing so. You can become a Wildwood Tram Car driver or conductor. Full and Part-time positions are now available for the summer of 2021.
