Get Cash: Guns for Cash Day Coming to Atlantic City
Turn in your guns, no questions asked, and get cash!
That's the word from the new New Jersey Acting Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck.
Bruck has announced simultaneous gun buyback days in Atlantic City, plus Passaic and Essex counties.
The "Guns for Cash" program will take place on Sunday, August 7th at several locations around the state. The program is both state and locally sponsored.
The gun buy back day in Atlantic City will be from 10am to 4pm at the Atlantic City Fire Station No. 1, located at 900 Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City. Police officers will be at the location to collect and secure the guns. all with a "No Questions Asked" policy.
According to Bruck, "The gun buyback initiative is funded with forfeiture dollars obtained by the local police departments and County Prosecutors’ Offices, as well as forfeiture funds from the Division of Criminal Justice."
Up to $250 cash will be paid for each gun.
Bruck stated, “The rise in shootings across our country and throughout our state is deeply painful, and our Office is deploying all available tools to attack the problem from every possible angle,”
The newly appointed Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill says, "Atlantic County is very excited to be a part of this gun buyback program and thankful to the Governor and the Attorney General for their support."
James Sarkos, in the Interim-Officer-in Charge of the Atlantic City Police Department. He says, “By hosting a gun buyback event, we are providing an opportunity for residents to cash in on any unwanted firearms they may have. The removal of these guns from our streets will reduce the chance that they fall into the wrong hands and are used to bring devastation to our community.”
