A four-year-old girl died Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of West Inlet Road and West Atlantic Boulevard in Ocean City.

The accident occurred at 10:56 a.m. Saturday according to Ocean City Police.

It is under investigation by the Ocean City Police Department and Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian issued a statement asking the community to join him in extending thoughts and prayers to the families affected by the girl’s death.

“An accident took the life of a young Ocean City girl this morning. My heart goes out to the families and all who were affected by this tragedy."

Gillian announced that the Ocean City Division of Social Services will be available to help provide counseling services for anyone in need.
