A fire is burning inside a Camden County chemical plant where several small explosions were reported a short time ago.

The fire started at approximately 2pm inside ResinTech building on Cooper Road in West Berlin, NBCPhiladelphia.com reports.  ResinTech manufactures the chemical resin used in water softening and water treatment to pull out impurities, according to the company's website.  The small explosions appear to be the result of the ignition of chemicals stored at the complex.

Berlin Township Police told NBC Philadelphia that five fire companies from Berlin Township and nearby towns responded to the scene to help battle the blaze.

Part of ResinTech's roof collapsed under high-pressure water jets. The roof is lined with solar panels, which mounts danger of electrocution for the firefighter crews.

Two dozen people working inside the building were all safely evacuated.

Berlin Twp. officials say the building is likely to be a total loss.
