Eagles Fan Held onto Champagne for Nearly 40 Years Waiting for Super Bowl Win
An Eagles fan from Delaware refused to open a bottle of champagne he bought in 1980 until his favorite team won the Super Bowl.
87-year-old Frank Markert, of Dover, finally popped the cork on a bottle of Andre Brut he originally intended to celebrate with when the Eagles battled, but lost, against the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XV.
After that loss, Markert vowed not to open that bubbly until the birds won the Lombardo trophy, 6abc.com reports. I know how he felt! I personally held on to a bottle of official Philadelphia Eagles Cabinet Sauvignon waiting for the same occasion! We're the Eagles finally gave him the reason to celebrate he was hoping for.
