Don’t Miss the Harvest Moon Over New Jersey Tonight
When you look up at the sky tonight, the moon just might look like a floating pumpkin.
Tonight's full moon is called a Harvest Moon, because it's closest to the autumnal equinox. (More on that HERE.)
If you've had a chance to see the moon over the last couple of days, you've noticed it's seemed bigger and brighter than usual.
That will only get better tonight, Friday, September 16th, as the full moon will also take on an orangey-red color thanks to dust in the air, and well, science!
You will likely be able to see the moon rise well before sunset, and luckily we're expecting clear skies tonight, so you should get a good view of it!
There's also a penumbral (partial) lunar eclipse tonight, but unfortunately, we're on the wrong side of the world to see it. If you want to check it out, you can watch a webcast of the event HERE. The webcast is expected to run through about 4:45 p.m. eastern time.
Happy skywatching!
