Dirt Bike Rider Killed in Hamilton Township Friday
Hamilton Township Police say a 29-year-old man from Egg Harbor City was killed Friday morning after a crash involving a dirt bike.
Police say they responded to the area of the Mizpah sand wash off of Third Avenue just before noon Friday.
[A] Preliminary investigation revealed a Kawasaki KX450F, operated by Brian Easterday (29) of Egg Harbor City NJ, was traveling southbound on a dirt trail in the area of the Mizpah sand wash. For an unknown reason, Easterday left the trail and struck a tree. He was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.
Easterday sustained serious injuries and was extricated from the wooded area by the Township of Hamilton Police Department, Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad and New Jersey Forest Fire Service. He was later airlifted by South Star Medivac to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by Hamilton Township Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office. Anyone with information is urged to call authorities at (609) 625-2700.
