The co-founder of Morey's Piers in Wildwood has passed away at the age of 87.

According to a post on Morey's Piers Facebook page, Bill Morey, Sr., passed away Wednesday at the age of 87.

The post says Morey was born in North Wildwood in 1929 and raised in West Wildwood. He lived in the Wildwoods his entire life and opened Morey's Pier with his brother, Will, in the late 1960s. In addition to his amusements, he was an accomplished builder during Wildwood's Doowop motel era and owned a bingo hall on the Wildwood boardwalk.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations to the Pulmonary Care of the Cape Regional Medical Center will be accepted in memory of William H Morey, Sr.
