A disturbing discovery in the parking lot of Clearview Regional High School in Mullica Hill has lead authorities to place the school on lockdown today.

Sources say a single bullet was found this morning on school grounds, 6abc.com reports.

The school district says all students and staff are safe and that the lockdown is for "precautionary measures.'

Authorities did not say whether the bullet had been discharged.

Parents and guardians should be advised that school dismissal may be delayed due to the incident.

Students had originally been scheduled for early dismissal for Christmas break.
