According to police, "Officer Barrios-Gomez saw the woman, 46, of Deptford, NJ, pulling at the driver’s side door of a vehicle and he ran to her to help. As Officer Barrios-Gomez got closer, the vehicle sped off towards Pacific Avenue and turned."

Police say the woman and a witness both told the officer that a man had jumped into the passenger seat of the car, and attempted to lock the car doors. The woman, who was in the driver's seat, was able to jump out of the car. The man moved over and drove away.

A police call brought other officers to the area, and the fleeing car was located. The driver - later identified as Ken Wade - refused police directives to stop, and fled, beginning a chase that went into Pleasantville.

Police say the pursuit was called off "when it became too dangerous for pedestrians on Main Street.

Wade was located in Linwood, and ultimately drove away from an attempted traffic stop, and ultimately crashed his car into a house.

Wade refused to exit the vehicle after the crash, and was forcibly removed by Linwood Police. More details of the Linwood events that led to Wade's arrest can be found here.

Wade is facing numerous charges and the incidents remain under investigation.
