Diamonds are said to be a girl's best friend but did you know that the Jersey Shore is home to its own rare breed of diamonds? While they might not be an expensive crystal, Cape May Diamonds still dazzle people who find them.

These clear, sparkling diamond-like rocks come a long way. Starting their journey at the tip of the Delaware River as milky colored quartz rocks they travel more than 200 miles to find their home on the beaches of the Delaware Bay in South Jersey. On their long journey down the rough crystals smooth out from tumbling through the waters, getting their final toss in the Delaware Bay before landing on the sand for beach goers to collect.

For those who aren't fans of sifting through the sand or who don't have any luck with finding Cape May Diamonds many local shops have small jars of them for sale as souvenirs. There is even jewelry made with the special Cape May find!

Next time you're scoping the beaches for sea shells be sure to keep an eye out for the Cape May Diamond. They're the perfect way to remember a day well spent at the beach.
