Cape May - full of charm and beauty - has another accolade to add to its portfolio - it's on a list of the "Top 25 Small Towns for The Ultimate Summer Vacation."

The honor was bestowed on Cape May by Far & Wide.

Editors named Cape May the 25th on the list or 25 small towns.

Here's what editors had to say about Cape May:

Since the Victorian era, the last stop on the New Jersey Shore welcomed families from Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., who were seeking a quiet summer along the beaches.

To this day, Cape May is nothing like the MTV version of the Jersey Shore, with Victorian mansions, charming bed and breakfasts, families enjoying surrey rides, and a downtown that is closed off from motor vehicles for a small-town pedestrian shopping and dining district.

As far as what to do in Cape May, editors came up with this:

Trusting the thousands of TripAdvisor reviewers who have rated their stays in Cape May, here are the top five places to visit while you are here:

  • Cape May City Beaches
  • Cape May Lighthouse (pictured)
  • Jersey Shore Alpacas
  • Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum
  • Washington Street Mall

Finally, the site has this recommendation about where to stay:

For more than 200 years, Congress Hall has been the leading summer resort in Cape May. Once known as the "Summer White House," Congress Hall opened in 1816. Although it originally began as a boarding house, by 1828 it became the grand dame it is today.

The hotel is located in the heart of Cape May's downtown and overlooks the beach, providing a swimming pool and multiple onsite restaurants to enjoy.

Far & Wide chose Telluride, Colorado as #1 on the list. No other New Jersey small towns made the list.
