Atlantic City, NJ, Cops: Man Shoots Into Car With Infants Inside, Pleasantville Man Wounded
Cops in Atlantic City say a man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after he fired a gun into a car that had two infants inside and wounded a Pleasantville man.
The Atlantic City Police Department says the scene unfolded around 1:45 Saturday afternoon when officers on patrol heard gunfire.
Those officers rushed towards the direction of the gunfire and they encountered 21-year-old Joshua Ford of Atlantic City fleeing the area with a gun, according to a press release.
After a chase, Ford was taken into custody and the gun, which he threw, was recovered.
Meanwhile, police say a 27-year-old Pleasantville man arrived at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division with a gunshot wound; he was treated for a non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit revealed that Ford fired multiple gunshots at the vehicle in the 1600 block of Caspian Avenue. The vehicle had multiple occupants that included the shooting victim and two infants.
Ford has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, child endangerment, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice.
Ford was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
