Lower Twp., NJ, Cops: Woman Dies in Double Drug Overdose, Man Charged
Cops in Lower Township say a woman is dead following a double drug overdose earlier this week and a man who fled from where she died has been charged.
According to the Lower Township Police Department, their officers were called out to the 500 block of Seashore Road on Wednesday. At the scene, cops found a man and a woman who were both unconscious and unresponsive. Both were taken to Cape Regional Medical Center where the man regained consciousness but the 38-year-old woman, who was from Lower Township, was pronounced dead.
During the investigation,
"it was learned that Julian Atwood, 46 of Cape May Court House, fled the scene prior to police arrival. He was stopped and placed under arrest for an unrelated warrant. Atwood was ultimately charged with 1st degree Strict Liability for Drug Induced Death ... and 2nd degree Reckless Manslaughter ... and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center."
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
