When you think that people can't get any more stupid, they do something like this. Is calling people that want to raid Area 51 stupid a little mean? Honestly, I don't know anymore. but I'm going to say it anyway. Yes, people have created an event on Facebook to storm Area 51. Over 1.3 million people have RSVP'd for the event taking place in September.

Do I think that the majority of these people are doing this as a joke and won't actually try to raid the military base? Of course, when you look at the posts on the event page it is clear that most people find this whole situation amusing. However, you very well know that there will be a select few that will take this seriously and actually try to infiltrate a top secret military base where they test weapons.

The event description states, "We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens."

Most of the posts are memes that are actually quite creative and funny. There are plenty of comments with the same level of snark as this one, "I’m getting really excited about this but I’m also a little nervous. This will be my first ever raid. Can anyone recommend a good training schedule or a packing list?" Others are concerned for the aliens' well-being, "What if Aliens are just so shy that can die from shyness and the government are just protecting them while trying to convince them that we are cool and won't bully them on their giants foreheads."

Now of course, the United States Military does not find this funny because they take protecting military bases serious. Which they should! The U.S. Air Force has stated that they will be prepared to protect the base. According to CNN, ""[Area 51] is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces..."

My question to those who are actually taking this serious, what are you hoping to really accomplish? Area 51 is a testing site for the U.S. Air Force. Do you actually think you'll be able to raid a military base without being killed or arrested in the process?

If you are planning to raid a high security site, why would you announce it in advance? Yes, I know this is mostly a joke. I do fear though that this won't end well for the select few that sarcasm is lost on.
