While most of us were celebrating the beginning of a New Year, a local family needed immediate help.

A New Years Eve fire destroyed a family's home in Bridgeton, and even though it was Midnight New Years Day, volunteers from the  American Red Cross were ready to help.  The family of four lived on the 100 block of Fairton-Millville Road.

According to The Press of Atlantic City, 'The family of a husband and wife and daughters ages 4 and 4 months were given hygiene kits, blankets, food, clothing, cribbing, infant bedding, transportation funds and temporary lodging -- and stuffed animals for the children.'
