Rihanna and Adele were two of the most influential people in the world in 2011, according to Time magazine.

Time released it's annual list, and the rundown of 100 includes several other big name celebrities alongside politicos President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney. In addition to Adele and Rihanna, Chelsea Handler, Matt Lauer, sisters Kate and Pippa Middleton, Kristin Wiig, and Stephen Colbert also made the cut.  So did '50 Shades of Grey' best-selling author E.L. James.

Of Chelsea Handler fellow comedienne Kathy Griffin writes:

"Look, I don't know how Chelsea Handler does it. Chelsea presides over her own media empire -- talk show, sitcom, books -- all while sharing a network with Ryan Seacrest and the Kardashians. To hell with the Time 100; she should be Person of the Year just for putting up with Khloe."

Surprisingly, Oscar nominated actresses Jessica Chastain and Viola Davis of 'The Help' were also selected.  As were Hollywood A-listers Harvey Weinstein, Claire Danes, and Tilda Swinton.
