My pale Irish skin is something that people notice and like to point out right away to me as if I am not aware of it. Everyone who has been blessed or cursed with fair skin knows how this conversation goes. The person will say something along the lines of, "Oh my God, you are so pale!" There is usually a slight laugh that goes along with it. We just smile, nod, and say an exaggerated yea.

There are certain things that unite all us pale people together. Here are 7 of them.

There is not enough sunblock in the world.

You would think since we have to apply and reapply all day long that we would be good at it by now. Never the less, we end up with splotches of red all over. It doesn't matter if we were outside for 5 minutes or 5 hours, the damage has been done.

    Time is irrelevent.

Speaking of being outside for 5 minutes or 5 hours, it doesn't really matter. Yes, we can get more burnt the longer we stay out under that big ball of fiery gas. However, after about 5 minutes we already look like what most people look like after spending a couple of hours out in the sun.

Finding the right foundation and bronzer shade is a chore.

Warm toned anything immediately makes us look like an Oompa-Loompa. Even the lightest foundation shade is sometimes too dark for us, I'm looking at you Wet n Wild cushion foundation. Contouring is also a hassle, most contour shades are way too dark and way too warm toned.

We make people feel better about themselves.

As the winter rolls around many of our tan friends start to complain about just how pale they are. We roll our eyes thinking that even in the summer we don't look that tan. To make our friends feel better we roll up our sleeves and compare arms.

We come up with creative ways to say pale.

"Oh my God you're so pale," a random person will say as if you didn't know already. We retort back with, "I'm alabaster," or "I'm porcelain." Both of those sound better than saying you're pale.

We get very red, very fast.

Within 2 minutes of a workout our faces are as red as a tomato.

The next day is filled with regret.

Sunburn is most definitely a slow burn. The next day is always so much worse than the immediate burn. The next day could see blisters and even redder skin.
