Six people were rescued yesterday off the coast of Barnegat Light, after the boat they were in ran aground and began taking on water. Three of those passengers are from our area.

The U.S. Coast Guard managed to rescue Egg Harbor Township's Bill Sagion, Lacey Township's Albert Stork and Dennis Koleszar along with Gary Mertz, Albert Kristoff, and John Wargofchik. Amazingly, no one was hurt.

The same cannot be said for the boat, named "The Southern Comfort".  The fishing boat sank into the Atlantic after crashing into some rocks.

Donna Weaver of The Press of Atlantic City has the story on the work of the Coast Guard and how the captain of the boat acted with grace under fire.
