A very unfortunate and tragic story here, as a man just wanted to get a coat or a warm place to sleep.....

Joseph L. Hanshaw of Bridgeton died last night,  after becoming entangled in the pull-down door of a Salvation Army clothing bin at Commerce Street and Mayor Aitken Drive.  (Press of Atlantic City)

It took firefighters several minutes to free Hanshaw.  He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

This tragic situation raises some concern.  Does Cumberland county have warming centers for the homeless? Capt. James Stephenson of the local Salvation Army Branch answered 'We have a number of people who are looking for a warm place,  Cumberland County does not have a no-freeze policy in effect. Perhaps this will be a jump-off point for one.'
