In most cases when we come in contact with police officers, it's not under the best circumstances, and sometimes it can be hard to remember we're on the same team. That's why the Hamilton Township Police Department is inviting the community to come connect over a cup o' joe at Dunkin' Donuts!

According to ShoreNewsToday, The Hamilton Township Police Department will be hosting Coffee with a Cop on Oct. 4  from 9-11AM at Dunkin' Donuts, 4450 Black Horse Pike in the Festival Shopping Center.

Coffee with a Cop is such a refreshing way to break down the communication barriers between police and community and connect on a more human level. And the Hamilton Police aren't the only ones doing this!

In fact, Coffee with a Cop started with the Hawthorne Police Department in California back in 2011. One simple but powerful brainstorming idea to invite the local citizens to communicate and connect with their police officers sparked nationwide, localized Coffee with a Cop events. Now as of last year, National Coffee with a Cop Day is observed the first Wednesday in October annually.

I love this idea! It's truly amazing how a simple cup of coffee reiterates the importance of building healthy, working relationships between police departments and the citizens they serve.
