A new study conducted by the University College London, has drawn a connection between working moms and childhood obesity. According to Fox 8, "Lead researcher Emla Fitzsimons found that children with employed mothers were more likely to have a higher BMI (body mass index) compared with kids with stay-at-home moms."

The researchers looked at around 20,000 children up to the age of 14. Previous research has been done on the theory that working moms have a higher chance to have obese children, this current study wanted to dive deeper into the topic. The study confirmed previous research and noted that this was particularly the case with single mothers.

The study used a link between missed breakfast with an increase in snacking and unhealthy choices. Kids that have working moms are 29% less likely to eat breakfast. It should be noted there were no similar results with working fathers.

Researchers also discovered that these children spend more than 3 hours in front of the TV a day, giving them a sedentary lifestyle.
