With NJ Restaurants Reopening, I’ll Have A Double Shot of Patience, Please!
I can’t believe I’m advising people to have patience because I’ll be the first to admit I have a hard time being patient. We are from the Jersey Shore. I think all of us sometimes blow a gasket and patience is an adjective we forget to use. It’s that New Jersey in us! That being said, with new restaurant and bar regulations it’s important that we, the customers, are patient and respectful to all workers!
This week I’ve enjoyed catching up with friends for dinner and drinks at many Jersey Shore spots. It felt refreshing just to sit in a public area with nice weather drinking a tasty adult beverage. Summer at the Jersey Shore is the best no matter what the circumstance! Yes… some lines were long, waiting for a table took longer than usual and a couple of food orders were messed up. You can tell some customers were irritated, but we must remember the circumstances we are in. A service mistake shouldn’t mean we throw a fit and get all fired up, so show some patience not only for the server but for all those getting back into the restaurant workflow.
Remember, these workers are going through an adjustment. All of us are going through something unique at work, and the last thing we would want is someone negatively critiquing us or telling us we aren’t fulfilling expectations. It’s a different world and it will take a team effort from all to better the outcome.
This upcoming weekend enjoy being out with friends and family! Stay healthy and continue to support local businesses. And drink responsibly!
“Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.”
