I’ve done this as an on-air topic several times over the past 28 years.

Listeners have always enjoyed sharing their own personal likes about this topic.

Here we go. What foods taste better as leftovers then they did when first cooked fresh?

I fancy myself as a bit of an amateur “foodie” and I love having this discussion with you.

Here is only my partial list of seven (7) foods that taste better the next day, as follows:

  1. Stews
  2. Meatloaf
  3. Soups
  4. Chili
  5. Stuffing
  6. Lasagna
  7. Bread Pudding

During the many challenges presented by our Coronavirus pandemic, let’s have some fun together.

PS: There is technical reason why this is actually true. I now risk spoiling the simplicity and joy of this post; but, I feel obligated to share it with you.

There are structures that bind together during cooking. This takes place during the heating and agitation during cooking process. When they relax, the flavor gets better and richer, as the ingredients incorporate together.

And, with the foods that I have selected, the texture is also improved. Texture is very important to me.

I had so much fun writing this column.
