Winner of South Jersey HS Athlete of the Week for Week of Jan 26
Each week, 973 ESPN South Jersey and Prime Events are bringing you the chance to vote for the South Jersey High School Athlete of the Week. We want to recognize some of the great student-athletes from around the Cape Atlantic League with five nominees. The winner of the last week's voting for the South Jersey Athlete of the Week is Atlantic City High School Swimmer Megan Fox!
Check out this week's candidates for the South Jersey High School Athlete of the Week and see who the winner is below:
*Emma Peretti, Hammonton - The junior has had eight double-doubles in the last nine games for the Blue Devils, including a 38-point, 23-rebound performance against Our Lady of Mercy.
*Jahmir Smith-Blount, Holy Spirit - This junior made six three-pointers in seven attempts in a victory over Ocean City on Coaches versus Cancer Night, keeping the Spartans in the picture for the Cape-Atlantic League Tournament.
*Archie Lawler, Lower Cape May - The junior scored 25 points for the Tigers in an upset victory over St. Joseph Academy and netted 23 points in a near-upset over Egg Harbor Township. He is the third-leading scorer in the Cape Atlantic League
*D'Amani Almodovar, St. Augustine Prep - The senior continued his consistent winning on the mat, helping the Hermits advance in the state's Top 20. He earlier this season had a strong performance in the Beast of the East Tournament.
*Cole Jennings, St. Augustine Prep - This junior swimmer won two events while leading the undefeated Hermits past previously undefeated Egg Harbor Township and move up in the Top 20 in the state.
*Kaci Mikulski, Wildwood Catholic - This sophomore nailed six three-pointers in a win over Hammonton. One of the CAL's top perimeter shooters, she has made three or more from behind the arc in six different games this season.
The winner of this week's voting for the South Jersey High School Athlete of the Week is Holy Spirit High School's Jahmir Smith-Blount! The Junior Spartan Basketball player got 46.5 percent of the vote and coming in second place was Wildwood Catholic Sophmore Kaci Mikulski with 26 percent.
