The man responsible for the rampage that killed 12 and wounded 59 inside a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado will appear in court Monday morning for an initial hearing.

While it could be months before 24-James Holmes is forced to answer for his actions in a court of law, he is soon likely to undergo a competency evaluation.

James Eagan Holmes surrendered to police outside the Century 16 movie theater where he carried out his deadly shooting spree during a midnight screening of 'The Dark Knight Rises'.  He was dressed in head-to-toe protective gear including a helmet and bulletproof vest, and was found in possession of several assault weapons at the time of his arrest.

As authorities embark on the daunting task of identifying the deceased and injured and notifying families, law enforcement has descendedon Holmes' residence which is heavily wired with explosives said to be dangerous enough to level a block.  The apartment appears to have been wired and timed to detonate on First Responders.  Bomb specialists are relying on robot units to navigate the space.

The investigation continues into why Holmes, a neuroscience major at the University of Colorado who recently planned quitting graduate school, turned killer.
