Bail has been set for the woman accused of stabbing two Canadian tourists to death in broad daylight in Atlantic City who, according to her aunt, has a mental illness.//sojo1049.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif

The Press of Atlantic City reports that 44-year-old Antoinette Pelzer of Philadelphia was taken to the Atlantic County Jail this morning.  Charges against Pelzer are expected to be upgraded from aggravated assault after the women, ages 80 and 47, died of their wounds.  SoJO reported on this story as it broke yesterday.

The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of relatives.  Peltzer is currently being held on $2,ooo,ooo bail.

Pelzer’s aunt, Nadine King of Philadelphia, told The Associated Press that her niece has been battling schizophrenia for many years and has been homeless since January.  Ms. King also says Pelzer has no criminal record.
