Tyler Perry Enlists Nev Schulman, Tiffany Haddish for Upcoming ‘Catfish’ Movie
Tyler Perry is the latest celebrity to jump on the Catfish craze.
The 48-year-old director is reportedly spearheading a future film starring funnywoman Tiffany Haddish inspired by Nev Schulman's MTV television series, Catfish, TMZ published Sunday (April 22).
The show premiered in 2012 and concentrates on uncovering the hidden truths and lies of online dating. It is also a television variant of Schulman's own "catfish" experiences represented in his 2010 documentary film of the same title.
TMZ, who first approached the 33-year-old show creator for comment on the project upon arriving at the Los Angeles International Airport, said Schulman had quite an easygoing experience shooting his scenes in Atlanta with the Madea star, who wrote both the photographer and his Catfish team into the script.
As for Haddish's involvement in the film, it's believed that the Girls Trip star will portray a woman who acquires the help of the Catfish crew to investigate her sister's online suitor, whom she believes is not who they say or appear to be.
While Schulman was free to talk with TMZ about the movie, Haddish was much more preoccupied. In fact, she described a rather unpleasant and inconsiderate run-in with TMZ on Sunday afternoon.
"TMZ is out of order for that SMH," Haddish captioned a video venting her frustrations with cameramen approaching her for comment at LAX, presumably for a remark on her gig with Perry, as she and her friends struggled to load their belongings into their vehicle. "What is wrong with men today you can stand there and watch us women load bags and not help Weak."
With that, it's safe to say Haddish's lips will remain sealed a little longer on the subject… at least to lazy photogs.
